Fellow CAP members,

Group One will once again be hosting Squadron Leadership School (SLS) and Corporate Learning Course (CLC) at the Scott Composite Squadron located on Scott AFB on 14-15 November 2009.  Your CAPF 17 should be submitted to the appropriate Director with a check for $15 made out to "Group 1 Headquarters", NLT 31 October 2009.  A head count will be needed for the meal/social as soon as possible but NLT than that date.

For CLC please contact Lt Col Randy Mitchell

Community Event Support

Lt Col Connie Kelly will be contacting area group commanders regarding two upcoming events that offers the Illinois Wing the opportunities to: 1) provide valuable volunteer support to worthwhile causes, and 2) increase public awareness of CAP and its missions to serve America.

Event #1
Student Career Day
Illinois Department of Transportation
October 1, 2009

All ILWG members:

The 2009 Chicago Air & Water show will be held on 15-16 August.  All members, both cadets and seniors, are invited to attend either or both days and help sell official Air & Water Show Programs.  Participants will earn money for their home units.  What you need to know:

1) Senior members may not wear USAF-style uniforms (i.e. BDUs or Blues).  The golf shirt/grey slacks CAP uniform is recommended
2) Each person needs to bring their CAP ID and two copies of their CAPF 60
3) Sales start no later than 0800 and run through about 1730
4) You will be on or by the beach the entire day - bring a full water bottle and sunscreen!
5) Lunch will be provided both days
6) Members with CAP VHF radios: please bring them
7) We will assemble at North Avenue Beach and sign in.  You will be given a specific assignment at that time
8) Parking is limited and not convenient - car pooling and public transportation is recommended

More information will be coming soon, but if you have any questions that can't wait, please contact me.  In the mean time please the dates on your calendar and plan to attend!

Unit Commanders:  Please let me know no later than 31 July how many people your unit expects to participate on each day.  If possible, please try to balance the members between the two days - in previous years, we were somewhat short-handed on
Sunday.

Thanks!
