Master Sergeant Frank A. D'Angelo, Jr., CAP

About MSgt D'Angelo

Master Sergeant Frank D’Angelo is the Public Affairs Officer for the Illinois Wing of Civil Air Patrol and serves under the wing commander, Colonel Andrew Loy.  He also serves as the Illinois Wing Assistant Command NCO.

Frank D’Angelo enlisted in the Air Force in 1999 as a Security Forces specialist and cross-trained into the Information Management field during his first re-enlistment.  In October 2010, he joined Civil Air Patrol as an adult member while stationed at Strategic Command Headquarters, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.  During his 20-year active duty career, he was assigned to Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; Offutt AFB, Nebraska; Scott AFB, Illinois; and Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras.  He also deployed several times to Kuwait, Qatar, and Afghanistan in support of Operation Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom, & Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He retired from the Air Force on April 1st, 2019 as a technical sergeant and relocated to Champaign, Illinois.  On September 14th, 2019 he was promoted to (CAP) master sergeant and was appointed the Illinois Wing Command NCO.  On September 15th, 2022, he was appointment the Illinois Wing Public Affairs Officer (PAO).

The Illinois Wing Public Affairs Officer serves at the pleasure of the Wing Commander.  Sergeant D’Angelo advises the commander on public affairs matters, implements and manages the wing’s public affairs program, and conducts internal and external public affairs activities such as publishing news releases, public website development, and responding to media requests.

The Assistant Command NCO serves at the pleasure of the Wing Commander under the Command NCO.  As Assistant Command NCO, MSgt D’Angelo advises the wing commander, aids in decisions and policy making, advocates for the NCOs under his purview, and promotes recruiting of enlisted service members into the CAP NCO corps.
